Already in 2003, an updated series of 2.5 TDI diesel power units was presented. First of all, the problematic timing mechanism of the engine was modernized: the camshaft cam now pressed on a roller bearing, which increased the life of the rockers.
Produced from 2002 to 2003, the engine with the index BFC in fact does not belong to the B-series, as it has an old-style timing mechanism. Besides, it is very rare.
These engines were put on numerous models of Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda up to 2005:
2.5 TDI (2496 cm³ 78.3 × 86.4 mm)
- BAU 24V direct injection 180 hp. 370 Nm
- BCZ 24V direct injection 163 hp. 310 Nm
- BDG 24V direct injection 163 hp. 350 Nm
- BDH 24V direct injection 180 hp. 370 Nm
- BFC 24V direct injection 163 hp. 310 Nm
